About the Illustrator
The late Masayuki Miyata was the pre-eminent artist of the 1000 year old traditional art form known as Kiri-e. His works, which have been used to illustrate the writings of Japanese literary great Junichiro Tanizaki, spanned a wide range of classical Japanese literature and earned him recognition throughout Japan and renown in art circles around the world.
