About the Illustrator

Mika Takahashi was born in Kawagoe, Japan. She spent her childhood and erly adult ife in Japan, where she was first exposed to drawing and calligraphy by her grandfather, who owned and operated a sign shop. Mika studied art at Women’s Fine Art School in Tokyo. She moved to the United States in 1984 and lived and worked in New York and Chicago until 1995. She currently resides in Japan promoting a barrier-free society by introducing American-made wheelchair lifts to Japanese physically challenged individuals. She continues to draw in her free time.
