About the Illustrator
You Shan Tang is a painter, illustrator, Chinese calligrapher, and stone seal carver. He received his artistic training at Beijing University and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, where he won first prize for his painting in 1979. He is also the illustrator of Almond Cookies & Dragon Well Tea, and Striking It Rich: Treasures From Gold Mountain. In 1984, he won the American Book Award for his illustrations for Pie-Biter. You Shan resides in San Francisco, California, where the cultural diversity inspires his artwork. |
